چکیده
Excess of reactive oxygen can lead to membrane damage, accumulation lipid, protein, and nucleic acid oxidation products, deficiency reduced pyridine nucleotides phospholipids mitochondrial membranes, then electrolyte imbalance, swelling, uncoupling phosphorylation processes, ischemic neuronal death. Thus, the study oxidative stress antioxidant system activity is relevant.
The aim examine changes in pro-oxidant-antioxidant balance rats with brain damage different degrees severity (subtotal total cerebral ischemia).
Materials Methods. experiments were performed on 30 male outbred white weighing 260±20 g compliance requirements Directive European Parliament Council Union No. 2010/63/EU September 22, 2010 protection animals used for scientific purposes.
Results. A more significant decrease content SH-groups proteins glutathione (by 58 (51; 64) % (p<0.05)), GSH concentration 29 (19; 35) (p<0.05)) was observed under 24-hour subtotal ischemia (SBI) compared 1-hour SBI. Changes peroxidase multidirectional: SBI, increased by 12 (9; 18) (p<0.05compared control level, it decreased 74 (67; 81) (p<0.05). Effect of taurine treatment on pro-oxidant-antioxidant balance in livers and brains of old rats.
The effect of taurine treatment on antioxidant defense in liver and brain tissues of old rats was investigated. Endogenous malondialdehyde (MDA) and diene conjugate (DC), ascorbic acid (AA)- and NADPH-induced lipid peroxide levels as well as non-enzymatic (glutathione--GSH, vitamin E and vitamin C) and enzymatic antioxidants (superoxide dismutase, glutathione peroxidase and glutathione transfer...
متن کاملSaffron supplements modulate serum pro-oxidant-antioxidant balance in patients with metabolic syndrome: A randomized, placebo-controlled clinical trial
Objectives: We have investigated the effect of a saffron supplement, given at a dose of 100 mg/kg, on prooxidant-antioxidant balance (PAB) in individuals with metabolic syndrome. Materials and Methods: A randomized, placebo-controlled trial design was used in 75 subjects with metabolic syndrome who were randomly allocated to one of two study groups: (1) the case group received 100mg/kg saffron ...
متن کاملOxidant-antioxidant balance in alveolar macrophages from newborn rats.
An oxidant-antioxidant imbalance in neonatal alveolar macrophages (AMs) may contribute to the increased susceptibility to lung injury described in the neonatal period. We therefore evaluated oxygen radical production by rat AMs at various postnatal ages, and measured in parallel cellular antioxidant enzyme activities. AMs were obtained by bronchoalveolar lavage from rats aged < 24 h, 21 days an...
متن کاملbarberry administration and pro-oxidant–antioxidant balance in patients with metabolic syndrome
conclusions barberry supplementation reduces oxidative burden in patients with metabolic syndrome. results there was no significant difference between the groups regarding their baseline pab values (p = 0.32). a significant decrease in pab was observed in the barberry group (p = 0.022), whilst there was no significant change in the control group (p = 0.18). the magnitude of change in pab during...
متن کاملpro-oxidant - antioxidant balance in patients with high grade glioblastoma multiform
background : gliomas are the most common primary brain tumors of the central nervous system. among a number of different bio-molecular events, molecular connections between oxidative stress pathways and their development is prevalent. oxidative stress is the consequence of an imbalance between pro-oxidant factors and antioxidant defense. this imbalance may lead to dna damage and changes in grow...
